Our Story

During the Middle Ages, an unleavened cake - or wafer - was often consumed for its low cost and light crispy texture. These wafers were cooked over an open fire on two hinged iron plates. The making of these wafers became an art-form, later moving into the urban centers where street vendors would make a living selling them on the bustling city streets.

After a visit to NYC - where this crispier, European style of waffle is quite popular - our interest was peaked. As former teachers of classical education with a love for all things delicious, we took it upon ourselves to help rekindle this medieval delicacy.

After much trial and tribulation, we found the perfect wafel. Their sweet taste mixed with our homemade preserves, sauces, brownies, crisps, and fresh seasonal fruit will move you to call us for every occasion.

Who We Are

Wafel was created by two entrepreneurial women - Dawn and Kim - both of whom are former teachers of classical education. They started Wafel after discovering their shared passions for people, history, service, and most of all: delicious, sugary food!
